The Red Sea
The Red Sea is a sea water inlet of the Indian ocean between Africa and Asia The connection to the ocean is in the south through the Bab el Mandeb sound and the Gulf of Aden In the north are the Sinia Peninsula the Gulf of Aqaba and the Gulf of Suez leading to the Suez Canal
Occupying a part of the Great Rift Valley the Red Sea has a surface area of about 438,000 km ² (169,100 square miles) It is roughly 2250 km (1398 mi) long and, at its widest point at 355 km (220.6 miles) wide. It has a maximum depth of 2211 m (7254 ft) in the central median trench and an average depth of 490 m (1,608 feet), but there are also extensive shallow shelves, noted for their marine life and corals The sea is the habitat of over 1,000 invertebrate species and 200 soft and hard corals and is the world's northernmost tropical sea.
We are moored in the town of El Gouna which is situated 30km north of Hurghada and 25km north of Hurghada International Airport. El gouna has recently celebrated its first 20 years since conception. The town has 2 operating marinas and one which is completing at the end of 2009 bring the total number of berths to over 300.
The waters to around 2 miles offshore are home to many coral reefs which makes the area one of the most popular in the world for diving. There are a great many species of sea life which always provides a wonderful day of sport fishing with species such as Red Snapper and Grouper. Trawling attracts Tuna, Barracuda and Sailfish. The deeper waters beyond the surrounding islands are home to many other larger game fish. This is where the local skippers knowledge of the favorite feeding grounds and passageways becomes paramount to a successful days sport fishing
Typical 1 day itinerary
Below you will find a very general day trip itinerary, our trips are completely bespoke so if there is anything special you would like or you just want to target one particular species , this can be agreed during our communications prior to your arrival in El Gouna.
· Transfer from hotel or rental apartment/villa at pre arranged time (early start)
· Familiarisation with Just Em
· Trawl to first fishing point
· Late morning/early afternoon moor off coral reef for a cool down snorkel while lunch is being prepared
· Trawl to second destination in deeper water
· Mid evening cooking of the catch of the day(will be done for you but participation is welcome and fun)
· During the trip ,food ,tea, coffee and soft drinks are supplied free of charge, beer will be provided at cost price(around £1 per pint) using an honesty box system
· Return to El Gouna and transfer to your accommodation
Just Em has a vast array of equipment on board so there is no need to bring your own , although you are welcome to. All tackle and bait will be provided free of charge. The knowledgeable crew will be on hand to advise on bait and tackle to ensure a successful trip.
Pricing
We are trying to keep pricing levels to a minimum as we recognise that sport fishing can be very expensive. Just Em is insured for 12 passengers and our pricing is as low as £67 per person for a typical full day trip , based on 12 pax.
